The Ruritan slogan of “Fellowship, Goodwill and Community Service” appealed to our members enough to form a charter club of the National Ruritan organization.

For example our first fund raiser was a Veterans Day breakfast in November of 2006 and the Richmond community came together to raise over $700. These funds allowed us to award two $250 scholarships to Central Heights High School seniors and has become an annual donation of our club. The remaining funds allowed us to resurrect the flagpole in front of the Richmond firehouse. At Christmas time we restrung the main street Christmas Trees with new lights and garland and we were able to provide a local family with a meal and gifts for the children.   We have sponsored a family at Christmas time every year since then. This past Halloween we were able to host the 3rd AnnualTrunk or Treat where many of our communities children were able to experience a safe and happy Halloween.

We have been providing games for the Richmond Free fair since 2007. We have donated funds to the local 4H club. We installed over 30 new veteran grave markers in the Richmond and Bureau cemetaries. We are a proud sponsor of the boys and girls state program at Central Heights. We have hosted fund raisers for local community members to help them through hard times.  We assisted the City of Richmond in setting up the new playground equipment. We have sang Christmas carols at the Richmond Care Center since 2007.
 

We are constantly on the lookout to see where we can be of assistance to our community. We would welcome your input either through our website or by contacting a member.

Our goals are to help better the Richmond area through fund raising, volunteering time to meaningful projects, assisting other Richmond organizations, donating time and funds to our school organizations and organizing activities for the children and families of our area.
